Paperback Update

son_of_zeus_4-2

I’ve received an update from Canelo about launching Son of Zeus in paperback. As mentioned in previous posts, Canelo specialise in publishing e-books and have not yet ventured into the world of producing hard copies. To do this, they have to partner with a company that can produce print copies. They also have to set up ways of selling the books to retailers (i.e. bookshops) and then distributing them (getting them from the point of production to the shops).

This now looks to be falling into place, but in the meantime Canelo are planning for copies to be produced using Print on Demand, as early as Autumn this year. POD is a recent advance in printing technology that allows books to be printed to order, one at a time and to a high quality, rather than being produced in runs of several hundred or several thousand. There’s less of a profit margin in POD, but it’s a good stop-gap until everything else is set up. A full print run and launch into shops should take place early next year, if all goes to plan. So, heartfelt apologies to those among you who have been patiently awaiting a hard copy of Son of Zeus, but the good news is that it won’t be far off now.

Another piece of good news is that Canelo are also intending to offer the whole of my Odysseus series in paperback, using POD. This is more than I’d been expecting. Hard copies of King of Ithaca, The Gates of Troy, The Armour of Achilles and The Oracles of Troy sold out years ago, so it’s an excellent chance to bring these books to new readers who don’t have Kindles.

Talking of King of Ithaca, this should soon be out as an audio book. I was recently asked to choose from a selection of professional readers, so I guess the next stage is for them to start recording. Exciting!

You might only have a couple of months to wait for book two, which is now with the editor.
